Geek Tyrant speculated a new cinematic universe for Universal Studios to be based on The Mummy, Van Helsing and other fan favorites. - D. Berry

"Medieval Land Fun-time World" is the BEST worst lip reading of Game of Thrones ever (and for sharing it with us, Dan wins the internet this week. But don't tell him that).

Comic Book Movie teased us with the possibility of Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm in the new "Fantastic Four." - M. Gonzalez

Via Latino Review: Star Wars Episode VII to be released in Spring or Summer of 2015. This leads us to the  big question: can we expect a panel at next year's SDCC? - D. Berry

Recap Friday (Week of 10/7)

It's the last day of NYCC... as the hustle and bustle on the East coast begins to wind down, it's time to look back at the biggest news in geek culture-- what did you miss this week?

An overwhelming sense of nostlagia washed over the group as Funko released a first look at their "The Goonies" vinyl figurines. You can pick them up starting on November 21st! - D. Berry

Members agreed that the new Godzilla has some bear and wolf attributes. - J. Cole

Day 1 of NYCC officially kicked off at the Javits Center in New York on Friday, October 10th!

Badge Holders oohed and ahhed over this adorable Funko Pop! figurine of Stan Lee, a NYCC exclusive. - S. Tat

Similarly exciting news were released here on the West coast as the San Diego Convention Center's expansion plan was officially approved by Coastal Commission. - D. Berry

Michael Cudlitz landed the role of Sergeant Abraham Ford in season 4 of "The Walking Dead," as revealed in Friday's NYCC panel. - D. Berry

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo introduced us to the new 52, Batman: Zero Year at Batman Live! - B. Grinage

Newsarama speculated Star Trek to return to TV, despite an interview that was done with JJ Abrams in September. - B. Dragos

This twitter conversation between Patrick Stewart, Wil Wheaton, and Madeleine Albright was nerd approved (and that pun was totally intended). - B. Woodin

Lost "Doctor Who" episodes were recovered from BBC America and are now available for purchase on iTunes! - D. Berry

And TheOneRing.net posted a new trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, featuring new scenes and dialogue! - C. Livingston

Guardians of the Galaxy finally finished filming on Saturday, bringing us another day closer to the release! - D. Berry

Feld Entertainment unveiled Marvel Universe Live!, a two-year, arena-based tour that will kick off in July of 2014. - K. Hernandez

Recap Friday (Week of 9/30)

The first days of Fall in San Diego are the best. They tell us Starbuck's is now serving pumpkin loaves, Halloween is around the corner, and Andrew Lincoln is back in season 4 of The Walking Dead! 

While we were sipping on some pumpkin spice lattes and getting all giddy about zombies, a lot of exciting things happened over the course of the week. In case you missed it, here's what happened...

THIS WEEK...


Horror legend George Romero is expected to take Marvel to a whole new level with "Empire of the Dead," a series that's to debut in January. More deets are expected to be released at NYCC! - B. Dragos

Fans freaked when they got a chance to see some of the [leaked] footage for "Godzilla," originally revealed at the SDCC panel this year. - L. Sultana

TV Line got us all excited for the next season of Community as they announced that Nathan Fillion will make an appearance at Glendale! - D. Berry 

Elizabeth Olsen was confirmed to play the role of Scarlet Witch in "Avengers: Age of Ultron." - C. Livingston

To top it off, Aaron Johnson has been cast as Quicksilver. \And in all honesty, all I can think about is "god, he's going to kick so much a**." - D. Berry

In other news, Fox announced that they've picked up yet another season of The Simpsons (that's season 26, if you're keeping count)! "Woo hoo!" - D. Berry

They're also killing off a character this season... *sad face.* - D. Berry

And if you're planning to tune in for this year's episode of "Treehouse of Horror," (airing on The Simpsons this upcoming Sunday), you'll get to see the couch gag that was created by Guillermo del Toro! - D. Berry

Fox also announced that Sleepy Hollow has been renewed for a second season (which almost makes up for the crime of canceling Terminator: Sarah Connor... but I digress). - C. Livingston

Via When Nerds Attack: Fans of The Walking Dead comics will have a chance to meet artist Charlie Adlard at NYCC! They'll also get a chance to check out the WD art gallery while they're there! - B. Woodin

Earlier this week, Funko released a photo of this Batmobile Pop! figurine (available at NYCC next weekend), making me even more jealous that I won't be able to get my hands on one. - S. Tat

A recent press release tells us that Funko's also got "Back to the Future" and "Jay and Silent Bob" figurines in their merch line-up this fall. Iit seems that Funko's really doing it big this year. - D. Berry

And Tophr gave us the heads up on another adorable NYCC exclusive! Pimp2-D2 will be available at booth #208 and he's expected to sell out pretty fast!

Recap Friday (Week of 9/23)

This week's Recap Friday comes a little late but it's not entirely my fault. 
I mean, I can't help it if I've been abducted by the Incredible Hulk... right? ;) 

So while I was gone, the following events happened...

MONDAY


A candid shot of Norman Reedus at Con this year had us all fangirling for a moment. And by us I mean me. - T. Nguyen


TUESDAY


We drooled over the infamous SDCC Badge Holder's Cake. The glorious combination of chocolate icing and creamy white fondant had previously gone missing but we've since found out that it made its way into some happy tummies. - T. Nguyen

Fox announced that they've got a Gotham City Origins drama in the works. - K. Hernandez

And Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. premiered on ABC!


WEDNESDAY


Nerdist posted the first trailer for "Need for Speed" starring Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul. - A. Roman

TV By the Numbers announced that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is TV's #1 drama debut in 4 years, surpassing the second night of auditions on The Voice by 15% in viewership. - D. Berry

And Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. fans could stream "Declassified" recaps of episodes they've missed. - B. Dragos


THURSDAY


The first behind-the-scenes images of "Into the Woods," the film adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's play, were revealed and... Meryl Streep is terrifying. - J. David.

Bleeding Cool hinted a potential Wonder Woman casting as "Batman vs. Superman" calls for a "strong female lead." - L. Sam

And members speculated that DC is also planning to dominate television as NBC moves on with the development of Constantine. This comes weeks after CW had confirmed that The Flash will appear in the new season of Arrow. - M. Gonzalez

And Brad won the internet.


FRIDAY


Some of our members reported that they'd received emails about preregistration for SDCC 2014. An updated post revealed that you could check your eligibility status via the Comic-Con website. - H. Meza and S. Mungaray

Austin posted an incredible sketch of White Phoenix that he'd commissioned from Dijana Granov.

Vetty reminded us why we love Lindsey Stirling so much with the Pokemon Dubstep Remix. If you've yet to watch any of her videos... You. Are. Missing. Out.

Legoland announced that they are planning to break the world record for the most vampires at a place at one time on October 4th, 2013. Night-walkers are asked to register at the gate at 4:00 pm. - B. Woodin

And members thoroughly swooned at Tom Hiddleston as he reads a sonnet. A sonnet. Someone transcribe that on my tombstone please. - A. Copley

Via Movie Fanatic: the title of "Batman vs. Superman" was locked in in Warner Bros's CEO, Kevin Tsujihara. - L. Sultana

Disney confirmed that the the upcoming Star Wars origin films (to be released after 2015) will focus on Han Solo and Boba Fett. - D. Berry

Arnold Schwarzenegger was confirmed for the role of the big bad antagonist in Avatar 2, which is scheduled for a December 2016 release. - D. Berry

And TV Line teased a Walking Dead spin-off series for 2015. - D. Berry


TUESDAY


The SD Comic-Con Badge Holders's group hit 900 members! We were told celebratory cheers were heard a far as Tatooine.

An old photo of Molly Quinn dressed as Captain Mal resurfaced on the internet and everyone decided they wanted their very own Molly because that's just too adorable. - S. Tat

And park attendees will soon get to see the Thor: The Dark World exhibit at Disneyland! - S. Conaway


WEDNESDAY


Joseph's little Jaeger was a hit among members. Want your own? Thinkgeek's got you covered. You'll need one in case of a Kaiju infestation... - J. Cole

Living Social offered an exclusive deal for San Diegans, involving sushi, cocktails... and a shot at some professional sumo wrestlers?! - L. Sam


THURSDAY


A messenger probe on Mercury recently found Han Solo. I kid you not. - S. Tat

Rumors of a female Sith lord in Disney's "Star Wars: Episode 7" popped up on the internet. - A. Roman

FRIDAY


Comikaze Expo attendees got a first look at the exclusive Pop! vinyl figurine of the Spider-Man and wait, he's unmasked?!? He'll only be available at the Hot Topic booth November 1st through the 3rd so you better pick him up before he's gone. - B. Woodin

A sense of nostalgia washed over the page when Joseph posted a picture of his Fleer Ultra Spiderman Masterpieces. 90's kids, do you remember these?!

And fellow Decepticons rejoiced as they found out Starscream and Soundwave hoodies are now available for purchase at Big Bad Toy Store--just in time for Halloween! - J. David

A tearful day for fans of Futurama as the show aired its final episode in the series. - L. Sam
